Although historically it stems from martial arts it has evolved into a wellbeing movement and often advocated by health care professionals for a wide variety of stress reducing reasons.

Tai Chi is ancient Chinese health system with great health benefits. The Missing Link, was an active member in developing the National Tai Chi standards and has run Tai Chi programmes for heart, lung, cancer patients for nearly 15 yrs in Leeds, UK.

      There is no pre requisite for this class other than your age group. This is a beginners class an you will be guided through the moves.

      • You need to wear lose clothes and soft flat shoes

    This course is designed so you can take your time, dip in and dip out during the week. However, the course runs for a set period of time which is 12 wks and you will need to make sure that you get everything you need from it before then end of the 12wks.

      If you are steady away and doing the short exercises each day a beginner with no prior experience can usually do the course and become pretty good at it within 24hrs.

It is is also classed to be the most practiced form of martial art in the world. However, this short beginners course is not a martial arts course. This tai chi course helps you improve your wellbeing through the soft, slow, therapeutic exercises winch will relax you and help you feel better.

    This tai chi course is presented by an experienced tai chi teacher who has run community based classes since 2005. He is also a cardiac rehab specialist so you can be assured of the quality of the information within.

    The Sound Sense charity actively supported its specialist key worker in th a National study conducted by the British Lung Foundation.

    The study was to determine the effects of tai chi and chi Kung in patients and members of the community living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

    Over the years many people living with COPD have benefited from Sound Sense's health programmes. Through live classes, 1 to 1 health programmes, NHS liaison and a host of other methods.

    Thanks to the National Lottery the East West project has been able to grow and build on the many years of clinical programmes provided in the community.

    Nearly all rehabilitation involves consideration of a better diet. The East West health project gives you the foundation of a well balanced diet.

    This does not mean that you should not seek the guidance of a dietitian, NHS professional or clinical worker.

    This is Gareth, he runs the rehab programmes and is course tutor on a wide variety of nationally registered programmes. He is a clinical specialist in heart rehabilitation, specilaises in pulmonary health and is a referral consultant for local NHS and community groups.

    Gareth teaches and assess to degree level with key focus o specialist CPD for a wide variety of health conditions.

    Gareth has been learning Tai Chi and Chi Kung since 1990. Yang style and Li style tai chi and chi kung. You can can contact Gareth directly for guidance whether its clinical or simply about how to do the next move in a tai chi form.
